McGruff

Terrier Mix | Neutered male

Approximately 5 years old | Weighs about 5 pounds

Vaccinated | Negative for Tick fever, Valley fever and heart worm

McGruff has a great story to tell. This little 5 pound fellow was picked up by the police in an industrial area. It was apparent that he had been on his own for a while. He was covered in ticks, had open sores, was emaciated and very weak. Of course he was taken to our vet immediately where treatment was started.

His lab work showed anemia secondary to the tick infestation and a general infection. He was negative for tick fever, valley fever and heartworm. After a week of hospital care, tick removal, and antibiotics he was much improved. He was neutered and had a dental. Repeat lab work was normal.

McGruff is now a happy little man who likes to cuddle. He plays with the other little ones in his foster home. He is a pleasure to have with us. He uses the pet door, sleeps in a crate and loves his food.
